When Enter The Dragon was released in 1973, it Brought Martial Arts cinema to mainstream American culture. Bruce Lee's physical prowess and unforgettable charm made him a cultural icon worldwide, and spearheaded the rise of the genre from the relative obscurity of asian subculture, to the multi-billion dollar pop-culture industry we have today. This was the first Hong Kong action picture to be produced by an American film company, and an early example of Hollywood's recognition of the importance of Asian Cinema. This movie has a lot to offer, a spy thriller set against the backdrop of a fighting tournament on a secret island owned by a reclusive criminal mastermind with a removable hand, this is a bit of Hong Kong James Bond, combining action, humor, drama, and jump-kicks. With crossover performances by actor John Saxon, and Karate Champion Jim Kelly, and punctuated by Lee's indomitable personality, Enter The Dragon stands out as a benchmark of cinematic history.
