Hmongstory 40 Presents: Roots & Legacies
Hmongstory 40 Presents: Roots & Legacies
2015 marked 40 years of the Hmong migration from Laos and Thailand to the United States of America. To commemorate this special anniversary, an exhibition comprising of photographs, stories, fine arts, and artifacts will be organized to showcase the Hmong experience.

Hmongstory 40 will construct a different narrative that is still absent within the Hmong community and the general public at large. It is the Hmongstory because it’s a collective of our community stories. We would like to preserve and showcase some of these stories for the community to see through our exhibit. We will be bringing the exhibit to Sacramento from February 11th – February 25th at the Enrollment Center. Please check out our website and/or our Facebook for more details. This benefit concert is in collaboration with Paradise and many local Hmong artists. All proceeds will go towards the exhibit.
Paradise is a Hmong-American pop band originally started in 1989. Consisting of seven original members; Ko Yang (Lead Singer), Phong Yang (Bass), Haget Yang (Drummer), Long Her (Keyboard), Cina Chang (Keyboard), Nao Yang (Guitar), and April Vang (Lead Vocalist). During the year of 2006, Paradise had their last tour, and disbanded. Paradise re-united and performed at the 2013 second annual Hmong Music Festival in Fresno, CA. They also received a music award during the HMA in 2014 Sacramento, CA.
Paradise members will be performing again this evening. If you missed out at the Fresno and Merced performance in collaboration with Hmongstory 40, here’s your last chance on February 19, 2017 from 7pm – 11pm at the Crest Theatre with Hmongstory 40 Presents: Roots & Legacies.
